The Youngcare and MS Queensland Albany Creek Apartments are on track to be the new home for eight young people with high care needs in 2017!
To celebrate the opening of this fabulous facility, I will be leading a group of walkers around the district to highlight the challenges for disabled young people who require full time care and to raise funds to purchase a motor vehicle for the residents. Our target is $30,000.
Every local business or individual who donates $200 or more can participate in the walk on 16 May and will receive a framed certificate acknowledging your contribution.
The project is an exciting joint venture between Youngcare, MS Queensland and the Queensland Government. I am very keen to see eight young people living the young lives they deserve in their new homes that will promote choice, independence and dignity.
On 16 May 2017, the Centre will hold an Open Day – commencing at 7am. At 8.30am, I will commence a walk around the district between three primary schools where the children will join me to help raise money to support the Facility.
Walkers will drop into the local schools where they will walk laps of their school oval and invite students to make a gold coin donation to Youngcare and MS Queensland. The walkers will then proceed onto the next school, dropping into sponsoring businesses on the way.
Walkers will include local political representatives, sporting personalities and sponsoring businesses.
I believe it’s a great opportunity for the local community to come together and welcome the residents of this new facility with open arms.
